About Our Branch
The Delaware Valley Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (Irish language meaning, "Society of the musicians of Ireland") was formed in 1998. It is part of the Mid-Atlantic Region Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, under the umbrella of CCÉ North America. We host several events throughout the year, including an Annual General Meeting Dance Party each fall and a St. Stephen's Day Wren Party, carrying on an Irish Christmas holiday season tradition. We co-sponsor events with other Irish cultural organizations, like the St. Patrick's Day Ceili at the Commodore Barry Arts & Cultural Center in Mt. Airy and the Philadelphia Ceili Group Irish Traditional Music and Dance Festival. We also offer Irish language classes. Many of our members have gone on to put their talents to the test at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Comhaltas Fleadh Cheoil (a competition focusing largely on traditional Irish music skills) in Parsippany, N.J., and beyond, to the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann — an annual international Irish arts festival and competition held in Ireland.
