Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (pronounced COAL-tus KYOL-TOR-ee AIR-in) is the largest group involved in the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music.

Comhaltas is a non-profit cultural movement with hundreds of local branches around the world. It has been working for the cause of Irish music, dance, culture and language since the middle of the last century (1951 to be precise).

CCÉ's efforts continue with increasing zeal as the movement launches itself into the 21st century.

Philadelphia / Delaware Valley

The Delaware Valley Branch was formed in 1998. It is part of the Mid-Atlantic Region CCÉ, under the umbrella of Comhaltas North America, our province.

We host several events throughout the year, including an annual general meeting Dance Party each fall,  and a holiday party (with a distinctly Irish twist) each December 26. In years past, we pioneered Sober St. Patrick's Day celebration in the Delaware Valley. 

Recently, we began to co-sponsor a highly popular St. Patrick's Day Ceili, together with the Commodore John Barry Arts & Cultural Center and the Philadelphia Ceili Group. We also co-sponsor the Ceili Group's annual traditional Irish music and dance festival in the fall. We have sponsored many Irish traditional music concerts and workshops over the years, and we also conduct Irish language lessons.

Many of our musicians have put their skills to the test in regional and international competitions.
