We hope you have enjoyed the benefits of CCÉ membership this past year and that you will continue to support our efforts. The new membership year starts in September, and we ask that you join or renew at this time. When you join CCÉ, you receive a one-year membership in an international cultural organization and are a part of the local affiliate group—the Philadelphia-Delaware Valley Branch.
Our branch sponsors the Kevin McGillian AGM Ceili in October (on the 6th this year), The St. Stephen’s Day Wren Party each December 26th, and the family-friendly Sober St. Patrick’s Day which takes place following the Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade (March 10, 2019), and many other events and activities.
In addition to our own events and activities, our branch is a presence at local events sponsored by the Philadelphia Ceili Group and at many other local concerts, dances, and festivals. We work to support our local musicians by helping them prepare musically and financially for regional and international competitions on their particular instrument(s).
We are part of the local network of “pure drop” Irish trad proponents and tradition bearers. We try to carry this torch in a cultural world that is shrinking in number and depending more heavily than ever on those of us who want to see these traditions passed to another generation—traditions such as social ceili dances, informal music and singing sessions, and classes in Irish language.
The standard for all of these traditional folk arts is inspired by the annual gathering of the best in their craft at the CCÉ Fleadh Cheoil—literally a festival of music—held in Parsippany, N.J., in the spring, and the Fleadh Cheoil na Éireann (the All-Ireland Fleadh), that was held this year in August in Drogheda, IRE.
Our membership rates, which are largely set by the Dublin office, have not changed this year. Member categories and rates are:
Single Adult – $30
Includes one year membership and subscription to Treoir Magazine
Adult Couple – $38
Includes one year membership for two adults in the same household and subscription to Treoir Magazine
Junior – $25
Includes one year membership for person under 18 years of age and subscription to Treoir Magazine
Family – $40
Includes one year membership for all adults and children in the same household and subscription to Treoir Magazine
